I’m a commercial, business development and strategy professional with close to two decades of experience working in large, regulated energy systems.

Most of my career has been spent in fuels and energy markets - environments where decisions are slow to reverse, regulation matters, and the cost of getting it wrong shows up years later. I’ve worked across regions and roles, often at the intersection of commercial strategy, market entry, and regulatory change.

Over time, I’m more interested in how transitions actually happen - in systems, and in people.

This site is where I write to think clearly about both.

Hey, I’m Eleanor Wong.

What I write about

The work here falls into two broad areas.

Energy Transition

This is the system-level view.

I write about the practical realities of energy transition, particularly in shipping and fuels, where regulation, markets, and infrastructure collide. Topics include decarbonisation pathways, new fuels, and how policy frameworks translate into real commercial and operational decisions.

The emphasis is not on ambition, but on execution: what the rules mean in practice, where risk sits, and how companies navigate transition without losing optionality.

Leadership Transition

This is the human view.

I write about leadership as a transition i.e. moments where judgment, courage, and responsibility matter more than certainty.

This includes reflections on decision-making under uncertainty, leading inside imperfect systems, and navigating change when there is no clean playbook.

In summary, I write for people operating in complex environments - energy, infrastructure, or organisations under pressure , who want clarity without oversimplification.

If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
